Want to cancel AT&T and you have a 3GS?

Simple: Sell your 3GS on eBay for $600+ and use that money to pay of the termination fee. Normal 3G phones go for $300 as well…

The supports for GV Mobile have been unbelievable, but we need action to solve this crisis. As far as I’m concerned AT&T and crApple don’t exist.
Let AT&T and crApple customer service know how pissed off we are about this brainless decision.
Cancel our contracts, and use those unlock criPhones with T-Mobile.
Boycott crApple and AT&T products and services for good.
Complain to the FTC http://www.ftc.gov/ about this monopolistic behavior; this is illegal in the great US of A.
Start a class action lawsuit against crApple and AT&T.
That will surely teach them a lesson for life.
Together we can.
This is a decision that crApple and AT&T will live to regret; mark my word.
I will make sure all of my friends and family members stop deling with AT&T and crApple going forward.
The criPhone is not a novel device anymore; this retarded device can’t even run background process for crying out loud.
The Pre can run 12 apps at once or even more; is this great or what?
Let’s not forget to donate folks. Close to 12 thousand downloads as of now 7/28/09 9:40PM. That’s awesome.
There’s a donation link to the right of this very page as well as in Cydia.
No more restrictions regarding DTMF #, and * for “Offline Dialing”.
Sean, you hard work will not go unnoticed.
Nice, Sean.
And YCF, I feel the same way. All my family and friends will be told to steer clear of crapple and the criphone.
It is the end of the iPhone era. http://bit.ly/FXlBQ
is there any way to forward your SMS’s to email???
@Thom
not yet, that would solve A LOT of problems with push. If google implemented that into GV, A LOT of people will cancel their Text plans on ATT.
I really DO NOT understand why google allows VM’s to be forwarded but not SMS, since the SMS is all web-based anyways.
I have setup the growlprowl thing and canceled my ATT Text plan when I heard all this BS
… or just JB it it put it on another network
. I’ve had 2 iPhones and never paid AT&T a cent.
Let’s keep the complaints flowing.
crApple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
AT&T: 1-800-331-0500
They need to know how pissed off we are.
We can sign a twitition requesting Apple to unblock Google Voice Apps. http://twitition.com/xh8jk Let’s spread the word. Thanks.
@ranova
I think maybe Google isn’t forwarding sms, and possibly not pushing sms, was to butter up both Apple, keeping gmail from being as complete as mobileme, and AT&T, by not, as you said, destroying their stupidly expensive texting plans.
Implement those two features, perhaps out of spite, and Google could take a good deal of revenue from these *opolists.
Anyhow, I bought GV Mobile the day I got my 3GS, and I jailbroke it the day it became possible. I was really happy to see it on Cydia. It is the best app it can be given the limitations Apple imposes.
I suppose that now, even if gmail refuses to push email texts, someone could write program in the jailbreak world which could poll in the background for new message every few minutes using whatever mechanism GV Mobile uses.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see google do it the right way first.
Does GV Mobile require (and only operate on) firmware 3.0? It’s nowhere in Cydia on my device — even after forcing a refresh…
As much as I hate to say it, you can’t blame AT&T for asking that the app be taken down…they have every right in the world to request anything they want but it’s Apple who is to blame for caving to the request.
Anyone has the right to make any unreasonable requests they want, but the blame lays on the one that did it.
I’m done with Apple and AT&T. I was always sketchy of AT&T but I thought with the iPhone Apple would lead AT&T arround but appears I was totally wrong and Apple has just become AT&T’s bitch. So f**k both of them. I was a huge Apple fan until this. You know it’s just a matter of time before the AppStore makes it’s way into OSX and if this is how they’re going to run it, then no thanks. I’ll go back to Windows, Microsoft is evil but this is some gustopo type activity.
kinda having a bit of trouble. Am I able to forward Gvoice SMS to email using growl. I would like to side step prowl and use ymail push.
@enrico
it requires 2.2.1 to run GV Mobile.
@enrico
…yes it works great on 3.0 also. i have not had any problems on 3.0 jailbreak with redsn0w
That sounds like what exactly happened, but now that Apple has pretty much forced Google away from the iPhone, I really do hope they allow SMS forwarding to email – which would work wonders with Textfree. I do not want some web app of Google Voice, I don’t see how that could be any better than GV Mobile
Two words. T Mobile
AT&T and crApple started the war, now Google is taking it to them. Let’s see how it plays out. Check this out: http://www.bbspot.com/News/2009/07/google-removes-apple.html
@YCF
that’s satire
Last year I tried doing this, get iPhone cancel ATT contract, pay $200 termination fee and keep phone to jailbreak it so I can use it with t-mobile… but it turns out that if you cancel the contract with ATT, Apple asks for the phone back or pay the difference, the Apple rep gave me a total that came out to $800 but he didn’t seen too sure about that price. So I just took the phone back before the 30 days, so just make sure you are sure how this works.
Okay so your all un happy they pulled this app I don’t understand you all, Apple and AT&T are in the business to make money and not give there products or service away for free. You can all still use your Google Voice from home and it is free there. I mean I know you all must think it sucks to live in a capitilist economy but I personally think it doesn’t.
@YCF
LOL
@malofx did they refund the termination fee after u returned the phone? They have a buyers remorse period in which they won’t charge you a fee for terminating.
How dose iPhone g3s cost $600
I mean I was in apple just the other day $299 for a hone no biggie. What fu**k are you talking about.
@Paul: that lower price is a subsidized price you pay when u sign a contract with AT&T. AT&T makes the dollars back by keeping you paying under contract. If you want to just buy the phone outright with no contract then it costs several hundred dollars more.
For some reason as soon as I press SMS it crashes
