    @Anonymous

    Yup, same problem. For me I don’t even have to respring, I could just close the app and reopen it and it asks me for my login each time.

    One way around that is by using the jailbreak “Backgrounder” app. When you Background GVMobile, it doesn’t really close when you close it, thus no need to sign back in at “relaunch”.

    Yeah it’s back to the same problem from before. I wish we heard
    more updates. I donated more than the app cost originally and now its problematic :-/

    It seems that sean forgot to add the remember me option from the previous version. I’m sure the issue will be resolved soon enough, after all he is on vacation people…

    Check out the comments under the GV Mobile section (http://www.seankovacs.com/index.php/gv-mobile/). Sean had already mentioned how to fix the issue by changing the permissions for Settings.plist under GV Mobile.app to 0777 on Twitter (http://twitter.com/seankovacs). I posted the steps I followed to fix the issue. It now works great and it is much quicker than last version.

    Well, the “invalid credentials” problem is now effecting me (in the US) as well. Problem is I’m using an iPhone 3GS on OS 3.1 so I can’t really jailbreak to use the updated app until the dev team can crack 3.1 :(

    [1st iphone, 3.0 IPSW, official app store paid (old)]
    If I try to logon via my werizon mifi, it doesn’t work. If I try at home behind comcast, it does work. If I try the office w/ quest, I don’t know, I haven’t tried. Skype works for all. I’ve re-entered my credentials several times.

    Maybe it’s time I delete this and just get it from Cydia?

    3gs iPhone. Jailbroken. With paid app store version still works flawless.

    Hey there Sean,

    Thanks for this great App. Truly a life saver.
    I can’t get onto your forum for some reason so I just wanted to add my requests for 2.0 any idea when that will be out btw?

    1) I’d really like a separate phone app and a separate messaging app; or at least separate icons to them both.
    2) Can you make the place where I press to send a text message less small? I mean to bring up the keyboard. I have to concentrate hard to get the tap right.
    3) Any chance of making the call go straight through rather than having it call me.
    4) A longer history of text messages.

    Thanks SO much. Would love it if you could consider those.

    Same here, App was working fine on at Iphone 3GS, until couple days ago started to get the message “Invalid credentials”, i do not know if has something to do with AT&T announcement about let application be use over the 3G network? or what but now is not working if you downloaded from app store, on the other hand I got a jailbroke phone, i installed the new version of GV using cydia and is working like a charm.
    I believe that people getting credentials error is who ever is using the downloaded version from App Store.
    Any way this could be fix?
    thank you.

    @James
    >>Any chance of making the call go straight through rather than having it call me.

    How would that be done exactly? This is how Google Voice works. It calls you to make the connection.

    October 7th, 2009 at 12:15

    Well, the application could, for instance, adapt your address book to 406 numbers and then phone those directly.
    I believe that’s possible. Though, I could very well be mistaken. Anyone want to chime in?

    What is going on? My app has stopped working and it looks like progress has stalled on gv mobile.

    Gentlemen,
    When you use Google Voice over WIFI, 3G, Edge, etc. the system is instructed to call you first over your cell signal, and then connect you to your destination. In this case dialing straight through is not possible.

    However, if the call is initiated over the cell signal then dialing straight through is possible. This is how the official Google Voice App works currently, and any third party Google Voice App can do this just fine using a feature called “Offline Dialing” (i.e. using cell signal). That process takes a little bit longer to connect the call as the software has to send DTMF * followed by your voicemail pin to access the account, and pressing 2 followed by the number and DTMF # before the system connects the call.

    Remember that Apple does not allow sending DTMF * and # to the dialer, so this took longer than it should as those were replaced with pauses. Now, we don’t care about Apple anymore since the App is vailable only to those who wish to jailbreak their phones. Now the sky is the limit, especially if and when Google releases the APIS for Google Voice.
    ISN’T THAT SWEET?

    I hope that clears things up.

    PS: I’m also hoping for multi-account support which we have been asking for the longest.

    Thank you Sean for all your help.

    iPhone 3GS –> every time I click no the SMS button, the GV Mobile app crashes. Anyone else with that problem?

    Good Morning Everyone,

    I purchased the GV Mobile App from the App Store many months ago. Unfortunately, I had some issues with my iPhone and they gave me a new one. When I synched my phone, the GV Moble app was gone. How do I get it back? I desperately need it!

    I have the 2nd generation phone, not jailbroken (I don’t even know what that means), and I can’t find the download on Cydia?

    How can I get this back on my phone????

    HELP!!!!

    Thanks in advance!

    Dan

    Anybody else think google contacted Sean to stop developing gv mobile? So they can release their own app.

  21. October 11th, 2009 at 12:52

    I wrote a guide for all of those who want to use GV Mobile with Prowl. This probably won’t be necissary once GV Mobile 2.0 comes out but it is located at http://www.mattisz.com/hacks/gv-mobile-prowl-push-mod

  22. October 11th, 2009 at 12:55

    For all of those interested in using GV Mobile with Prowl, I have posted a guide on my site. It’s not perfect because it doesn’t automatically load the SMS section but anytime you receive an SMS pushed through Prowl, you hit reply and it will auto-launch GV Mobile. This guide hopefully wont be necessary with the release of GV Mobile 2.0 but for those who’d like it now, it’s located at http://www.mattisz.com/hacks/gv-mobile-prowl-push-mod

    James,
    Considering Apple is also blocking the Official app Google submitted as well, I doubt it.

    Sean,
    Any word on how progress is coming with 2.0?

    Different James here from the above.
    Anyway, Sean, would be delighted with any sort of update regarding V2!!!

  25. October 15th, 2009 at 15:39

    Any chance I could bribe you into developing an Outlook plugin for Google Voice dialing?

    -Athar.

  26. October 16th, 2009 at 13:30

    @thomas:

    Try this: Go to Google Voice webpage, https://www.google.com/voice login, and delete all the text messages you have. After deleting them all, restart your iPhone and try again. That may have fixed your problem.

    @ daninboca:

    You need to jailbreak your iPhone to get GVMobile anymore. There are many guides out there, just Google: “Jailbreak” followed by your iDevice. For example, “Jailbreak iPhone 3G” or “Jailbreak iPod touch 2G”

    Really, I wonder why no update at all on his site? Is he still alive? Seriously, does anyone know if Sean is ok.

    I’ve emailed separately asking the same thing with no response. So odd too. Sean has really been so active with this app in the past.

    @daninboca

    It really doesn’t matter your phone was erased because there was a login change made to google voice so the version you and I bought from the app store was rendered useless. Only way to get it now is through cydia.

    Yes Sean is still alive.. Just saw a post in his Twitter feed. But yes an update on V2 progress would be very welcome.
