GV Mobile + 2.1.00 on Cydia

March 19th, 2010

This update addresses a couple bug fixes, including Favorites issue that caused app crashes, errors related to network instability, icon!,  and offline dialing international fix. I have a couple things in the pipes, including feature updates to GV Mobile + (full landscape support, multi-SMS, random request) and other soon-to-not-be secret stuff.

    @marc
    I had the same magic key problem and sorta found the solution for my itouch. I went to google voice in safari, logged in and used it a bit thru safari then I added it to my homepage. Then I went back into gv mobile + logged in again and it stopped giving me the error but the app still didn’t work properly so I restarted my itouch and went into gv mobile + and it was working again. Maybe it was luck but it worked on my itouch and my wife’s. It’s worth a try and i just deleted the one from safari. Hope this helps!

    David, I tried your way and managed to login, but it still doesn’t work. I can’t send any text messages out. I wonder anybody else have this issue as well?

    I was able to get the magic key error to cease by logging in thru Safari, but none of my forwarded numbers show up in ‘google settings’.

    Are we supposed to login with ‘myemailaddy@gmail.com’, or just ‘myemailaddy’? I’ve tried several ways so far.

    @David
    I did get the program to start but nothing works. I get
    “Google Voice refused to make the call. This may be due to a couple of reasons.
    1) An invaldi phone to ring (phone number to make the call from).
    ***Google now forces you to use one of your call forwarding numbers to call from.***
    2) You’re trying to call a incorrect number
    3) Your login token is incorrect.

    None of the listed possibilities is correct as google voice works fine on my computer.

    I’m afraid it’s official. GV Mobile does not currently work with iphone 3.1.3 and Spirit jailbreak.

    Sean, I hope you can get the program running again. We anxiously await your awesome skills.

    Damit! I just purchased the paid application for 1.99 to see that it does not work? I followed David’s suggestion and now I can log into the app, but its seems to be disconnected with the google server. No sync of voicemail, sms, and I cannot even dialout, the dialpad just pretends that its dialing and it sits there, i dont get a call as I used to in the free version. Sean, mate, please fix these issues. I dont want to feel that I wasted my $1.99

    Yes, what David said is right but it wont sync the sms or calls, what would be the cause of that???

    Hi Sean, I have the same magic key error which can be bypassed by accessing Google voice through Safari but then it still wont connect to google and I can’t dial out. same error as:

    I just purchased GV Mobile + and am getting the Magic Key error. Also I registered for this site and never received an email with a password. I went through the Lost Your Password? link and got an error “The e-mail could not be sent.
    Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…”

    Have the magic key error (again, first time happened around beg of may but was fixed somehow?) I’m using 3.1.2 with blackra1n JB. Tried to log in on safari but was not able to retrieve my sms or voicemails or dial out. Perhaps this is on google’s end. Still love the app though :)

    Is working for me now, what I did is I sent a sms thru safari and the I opened GV and it sync all the sms, voicemails and calls

    So I was finally able to get rid of the Magic Key error by messing with GV in Safari. However, the app is still useless at this point. None of my forwarding numbers are pulled in; and if I try to add one, it give me an error “There was a problem adding this phone to Google Voice. Please make sure the number you are adding is valid and try again.” even though I entered it exactly as it is in GV. This means that I can’t call because you aren’t allowed to ring a number that isn’t in your call forwarding list. SMS will not download; don’t think voice mails will either. Basically nothing works. I really hope I didn’t waste my money. GV Mobile + seems great, I look forward to being able to use it.

    hey why when i try to place a call with gv mobile 2.0 does it call my voice mail and make me login then press 2, why not just a direct call??? can anyone help me

    I just purchased GV Mobile + yesterday, loved it for about 10 minutes, then it ceased working. I get the same “Magic Key” error mentioned in the previous posts. It seems to log in, but nothing appears in any of the menus for SMS, Voicemail, History, etc. No disrespect meant, but unless this is fixed ASAP, I’ll feel a bit ripped off, to be honest… There should be a warning about these issues on the Cydia purchase page.

    Hopefully a fix is on the way?

    @Zach

    To clarify, sometimes it logs in, and nothing is there. Other times, it is a “Magic Key Error”.

    What’s an iTouch? I can’t find it at the Apple store. I searched all over the site too… can’t find it.

    My app has been working great. Made a call this morning and then went back to make another and it was dead. Got the Magic Key error too. I tried the Safari thing and I can make calls from there and text, but it did not fix my issues with Magic Key. Both of my numbers are donw on the app. Do we have a clue what the hell is going on. I don’t mind making calls through Safari, but you do not get the free calls that way because Google routes the number to a different number everytime, thus kills the free outgoing that came with your app. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still nothing, same damn issue. I am sure this is not your fault since it has happened to so many. I am on 3GS Blackrain Jailbreak with 3.1.2 Any ideas on how or what is causing this?

    Same issue here, noticed only today, but didn’t use it for a few days, since I had to reflash, re-jailbreak and reinstall everything… so wasn’t sure it was related to the new install, or something else went wrong. I also noticed that my iPhone doesn’t remember the GV credentials, even though it’s marked “remember me”

    Also, I found an alternative – for people with do or die situation, but i hate it: http://voicecentral.riverturn.com/ – there are free and paid version.

    My GV+ suddenly got the same Magic Key error since yesterday and I am traveling in France. It has been working great when I least needed it and it quits just when I need it most. Murphy is right. Anyway, I am sure that Google has changed something and Sean Kovacs is working like hell right now trying to outsmart Google. Just kidding! Google Voice is useless with Google mobile web page, so I hope that GV+ starts working again soon. Thank you.

    hey guys, i recently got the magic key error too, gv mobile + had been working fine for me a for a couple of weeks, but I was able to get it fixed. I first deleted the gv mobile app, then went to safari and logged on the google voice and also saved the icon to my home screen. I then downloaded version 2.0.10 of gv mobile +, and then I was able to log on to my account, but the sms wasn’t showing up, nothing was refreshing, so I just rebooted my phone and now it seems to work fine.

    The frustrations continue!!!!
    GV Mobile once again started flashing and crashing. I logged in through Safari and got the app to stop crashing but it is not connecting to the google server. The txt msg trick no longer works for me.

    SEAN please end this torture once and for all!!!
