GV Mobile + 2.1.00 on Cydia

March 19th, 2010

This update addresses a couple bug fixes, including Favorites issue that caused app crashes, errors related to network instability, icon!,  and offline dialing international fix. I have a couple things in the pipes, including feature updates to GV Mobile + (full landscape support, multi-SMS, random request) and other soon-to-not-be secret stuff.

    This update made the GVM+ icon in line with all my other apps instead offset by a few pixels. Thanks!

    Nice Update! Will the next update have the option to make gv+ replace the native dialer.app?

    @sean Yeah, because I love seeing big bright ads for some crazy Intel app when I’m trying to reply to listen to a voicemail. It is actually surprisingly reasonably priced, far less than what I expected. I was figuring them to try a $19.99/yr type deal, or $1.99/mo or something. $6 isn’t horrid. I’d rather give it to you, though. =)

      Hahaha. True. I’m just wondering how long they will last. $6 isn’t much…and
      I’m sure the user base in very small – as small as mine. :)

    @Sean: Thnks. Now the ‘Nation’s Fastest 3G Network’ Won’t Make GV Time Out. Lol. Also Quick Question –> For the Offline dialing is the exclusion of the pound sign a technical impossibility or is it simply not included to follow Apple’s Guideline’s?

    Im sure Im missing something, when I try to update, I get a bunch of error messages, but it doesnt update. Do I need to uninstall? Buy the app again? Reset overwrite permissions? This is my only app from cydia store

    When you go into settings under GV Mobile + Settings/Offline Dialing is says at the bottom, “Apple does not let developers include pound (#) sings in the number to dial, so there will be a ~10 sec pause after dialing before Google connects you.” I am guessing to avoid spreading scriptable dialer virus’s that could dialin to an automated system and do whatever it may be programed to do, even it its not doing any harm that the iphone user is not already aware of. Either way thanks a ton for the app this make my google voice experiance on my $300 3GS that much more worth it.

    Nuts, I uninstalled GVM+ but now when I click on the GVM+ from the repo, cydia crashes. Anyone else have any dice?

  14. March 20th, 2010 at 23:22

    @Quash Yes you have to uninstall then reinstall. Then all should work fine!

  15. March 20th, 2010 at 23:25

    @Quash Do a soft reboot after uninstalling. Hold down the home screen button and the on/off button simultaneously until the phone shuts off then when you see the apple logo (or pineapple logo) release the buttons then go back into Cydia and reinstall. Hope that helps…

    Hi Sean,
    Not to be stepping on toes here, but do you think your app will be available on Rock at any point? Cydia is just way too slow. I already purchased ur app on there, but would be happy to repurchase if it was available on Rock.

    Thanks.

    @Scott I actually updated my GV Mobile through the Rock App so I would have to say its available already…

  19. March 24th, 2010 at 21:28

    Not sure why it’s on Rock. I never authorized that…

    I only see GV Mobile+ 2.0.2-1 in Cydia – when I try to install it I get a ‘size mismatch’ error. Am I doing something wrong?

    @sean
    I just noticed that unlike native SMS on the iPhone, GV Mobile + is missing basic Copy and Paste. Just felt like I needed to throw that put there.

    Dx

  28. April 2nd, 2010 at 19:28

    @Angel Angeles It’s there… to copy, you double tap the SMS and the Copy menu will appear. To paste, its the same as the native SMS app. :)

    Oooooh I was only familiar with the ‘hold to copy’ function that is common with all the other bubbles on the iPhone. Could the ‘hold to copy’ function also be added to GVm+ like native SMS has both?

    “soon-to-not-be secret stuff” So, how soon is soon. Approaching a month now. I don’t find a month to be “soon”.

  31. April 6th, 2010 at 16:56

    @I want GV Mobile 2.0 I like you man…you’re always riding my ass. You don’t sway from side to side, you’re consistent in your approach. As all things in life, things happen at a snails pace. I’m taking GVM to new worlds and with that, undiscovered potential arises. Maybe I’ll branch out and bring on another developer…not sure yet.

    @sean
    It shows up in a search, but says not available, so not installable. GV 1.x might still be able to be obtained via Rock… Not sure though as I still am running that version. If it ain’t broke…

    Will this let me make and receive calls on my wifi iPAD?

  34. qwertypo
    April 14th, 2010 at 15:43

    @Doc
    no. Google Voice is not a voip service. Its just for routing calls.

  35. April 16th, 2010 at 14:04

    Will the next version have the favorites tab for sending SMS messages also? I like that you added it for dialing, but I use GV more for SMS than calls.

    April 17th, 2010 at 11:18

    Sean, have you made an Ipad version? Apple should have no excuse in approving it since it does not duplicate anything. I forward my calls to a sip account so the Ipad could actually function as a phone for me using a sip push app.

    do you have an eta when you will be implementing features such as SMS’s to groups, and full landscape functionality? you’re a great developer, i just hope we can get some updates soon :(

    April 23rd, 2010 at 13:49

    I’ve noticed the majority of the time it takes for offline dialing is due to the pauses between number inputs. Is there a way to speed up the number transfer to the dialer?

  41. JS
    April 25th, 2010 at 11:10

    Any chance to get a feature where it lets us know that the sms has been sent? Like how I create a new msg to someone and after I hit send, it goes out to the sms list again. That doesn’t happen when I’m replying a sms.

    I’ve started getting an error:
    Magic Key Error
    There seems to be a problems retrieving your magic key. Please re-enter your username and password in the field provided on settings again.

    The same username;password is working fine on the website, this error started to happen today. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app, same issue.

    I’m also getting the same error,

    Magic Key Error.

    And same username and password is working fine on the Google Voice Web site. Running 2.1.0 GV Mobile+ version. This also seems to have started today. Uninstalled and reinstalled the application. Same results.

    Any help? Anyone else running into this issue?

    I had the same magic key problem and sorta found the solution for my itouch. I went to google voice in safari, logged in and used it a bit thru safari then I added it to my homepage. Then I went back into gv mobile + logged in again and it stopped giving me the error but the app still didn’t work properly so I restarted my itouch and went into gv mobile + and it was working again. Maybe it was luck but it worked on my itouch and my wife’s. It’s worth a try and i just deleted the one from safari. Hope this helps!
