UPDATE: Issue should be resolved now. Seems like it was something on Google’s end.

Thanks for your work on this. GV Mobile hasn’t worked for a couple days for me. I reinstalled, and no luck. Deleting the account settings and recreating doesn’t work either.

Mine was down for a few hours yesterday. It’s fine now.
Folks, log into google voice on safari’s browser, then log into your GV Mobile app. It’s obviously just a work around, but it seems to fix the problem for me for a couple hours (till the cookie expires, I figure.)

The issue is log in via GV Mobile on the iPhone. It simply stopped working…and I think that Sean is fully aware of it. Thnx…
Sean–not sure if this is related to the latest upgrade by Skype/Google Voice but worth publishing: as of 3 days ago, you can now use Google voice number as your caller id when making a skype call…hope this might (partially) solve the problem. AT
Not 100% sure what the problem is (since I can’t replicate it), but I have seeded a version to some testers. Awaiting the results…

Hello Sean, I use both GV Mobile and GV Mobile +. I have problems with both app. GV Mobile will not remember the Username and Password that I entered. GV Mobile+ keep showing a message about Magic Key (no idea about it). Can I be the tester? I would love to help solve this issues.
Now Magic key error is gone but no history, sms and can’t call out
If you receive the Magic Key error, you could bypass it by logging into m.google.com/voice immediately before logging in with GV Mobile +. However, you would not be able send SMS or call out, which is @orion’s issue.

@Egypt.. It is still not working for me.. Are you using a special version?
@Sean.. The latest version v1.22.1 on Rock/Cydia is not working for me. It always says that “it appears this is your first time running GV Mobile. Please enter your GV username and password..” So, I enter them and it seems to accept them but when I change to the SMS or History page, GV mobile crashes right away.
Tried the mobile browser method, then logging in with the app, and it completely failed. When I launched GV+, it just kept trying to login over and over again. Guess I’ll just use the mobile browser until Sean can figure out what’s wrong.
If anyone is competent enough and CAN FOLLOW THROUGH on testing a build which may fix this, please email me the UDID # of your phone. I will need you ready to test this within hours of you sending me your UDID # as everyone is awaiting this fix. *sigh*
I am experiencing the same issue. I found a way around it: disconnect from your WI-FI and try again. It is slower but it is working for me since April 30. To Speed things up I have cleared all my history from google voice.
I dont have this issue at all. I use GV for all my phone calls. Used GV several times already today. Will I be able to test the new build for you? I guess if you havent gotten anyone to help you test

I am using iphone, and since few days I am getting this message while try to call any number. “Error Google voice refused to make the call. This may be due to an invalid phone to ring or your’re trying to call a incorrect number. Please verify the number and try again.”
Wow, a login issue and I’m not the one having it? This is odd haha. I’ll get you my UDID later today when I get home. I don’t know if it will help you though since I’m not having the issue but I’d be glad to test it out for you anyway.

Same here it just stopped working on me again.

I found this to be interesting… I can log in and use it without any problem with my Roger’s 3G connection, but if I turn on the wifi and use the home wireless connection, it doesn’t work

Biggest hurdle in finding a fix is me being able to reproduce the problem. It seems like Google’s Account API (ClientLogin) is acting up…seems like other GV apps and wrappers are having issues as well (whew).
@Quash GV M + works over cellular but not your Wifi? What internet company do you have and where are you located?
I can second the working over 3G but not Wi-Fi issue. I just reproduced it. I’m on my company Wi-Fi so that might be the issue, but it was working in the past. I guess they could have blocked a port that GV+ is using. I believe my companies ISP is Qwest.

No for me. Neither 3G nor Wi-Fi works in my case.
I have iPhone 3G running jail-broken 3.1.2 firmware. Running GV Mobile+ 2.1.00 version. I’m willing to also help test any private build. I would say this problem started happening independent of any base updates i was doing through Cydia.
After 4-5 days of getting the Magic Key error, the app suddenly worked again. I guess you could just… wait it out? =
The problem was on Google’s end…seems the fix is propagating through all their servers currently. If it’s not working for you now, it should shortly.

Just wanted to let everyone know that your name and password are easily accessible if you save them in the app. They are located in /var/mobile/Documents/GVMobilePlus/Settings.plist
Better hope no one can SSH into your phone.

That’s why anyone who has half a brain and jailbreak’s changes their root password. If you don’t maybe you shouldn’t be dabbling in this stuff.
@Concerned I’d imagine if someone wanted to SSH into your phone, the last thing they would want is your GV account info. It is a free service, no? lol

Hey Sean just curious when can we expect the new features…? No rush love app and can’t wait for the new features to be available…. Also not sure if Notifications are one of the new features or not either way keep up the good work…
I’m rushing, what new features are you working on, if any? I doubt you are even working on anything. blah blah, wife and other job first, whatever. Seems like this is going nowhere.
I am seeing an issue where my contacts are not updating from google voice. everything else seems to be, but not the contacts.

Hey Sean, not sure why, but GV Mobile+ worked fine for me just fine last week, but as of this morning, it just flashes the “Signing in” window several times, then crashes. I just tried signing in to GV in Safari, then jumped over to GV Mobile+, and now the sign in window stays for a minute or so, then I get a message, “An error occurred while trying to establish a connection with Google Voice.”
….Help?
