GV Mobile + v2.1.50 available

May 19th, 2010

This update fixes the Magic Key errors and related problems. I also fixed the international offline dialing problem (+ to 011). Also, added proximity detection on the voicemail tab. I’ll be updating the free version shortly and adding some other hot stuff to the + version as well.

    Prowl is pretty good with gv mobile for push notification. Hey Sean was wondering if you can make it refresh when i am engaged in talking to a specific person, rather then me get back out of it and click on refresh. Thank you

    Or give us options to change time interval manually instead of 5 minutes?

    Thanks for the update, I was relying on Google’s webpage for a while. Any plans to add a multiple recipients option to SMS?

  10. May 19th, 2010 at 22:09

    @dee true

  11. May 19th, 2010 at 22:09

    @angelo I hear ya. I can’t do true support through the program since Apple controls that. If it was on the app store…

    May 19th, 2010 at 22:27

    @sean

    For SMS specifically, couldn’t you implement a Gtalk IM like feature so SMS can auto refresh during a conversation using something like GVMax? Sort of like it does now with beejive and other IM programs.

    Hi Sean, I noticed the new version would crash if I try to add a favorite from my address book.

    @John
    Isn’t there a feature to refresh every so often? Like in 5min intervals? Anyways if it constantly refreshes, it’ll just drain our batterryyy.

    @Dynax
    Works for me. Just added some contacts off my local addressbook

    @sean
    Thanks a bomb! Best money I’ve spent hands down

  16. May 20th, 2010 at 11:11

    @JS np…thanks

    May 20th, 2010 at 13:57

    @JS
    It will drain battery yes, but i would maybe only conversate say 2 mins top, and i would always have to get back out to refresh just to see what they last posted and go back in to reply would get very tedious. Usually when you sms with someone its only in an less then 5 min time span.

  18. May 20th, 2010 at 15:30

    Awesome, I saw it crashing today, looked online for your homepage, saw there was an update. Don’t know why but Cydia wouldn’t update it, and I just uninstalled and reinstalled. 20 minutes total for fix before I knew I needed a fix. Awesome app. Yeah push notifications would be sweet. Too bad Apple/At&T wouldn’t play ball. That whole “confusion with core feature” is crap because they allowed Opera Mini on there and that’s just like the fscking Safari “core feature”. Sorry, ranting now. :D Great app.

    Hey Sean man, push sms would be a really nice feature. I mean thats the only thing missing to make GVMobile+ almost perfect. THanks for the hard work tho.

  20. May 20th, 2010 at 15:39

    @Dread Pirate Niko Opera would get the EU on them if they didn’t let them in. MS knows the EU means business.

    @JFBourne I hear ya.

    it’s weird that some contacts I added from local address book will not crash the app; but some will persistently crash the program. It happens to three different iphones (2G, 3G and 3GS)!

    This may be a completely different direction than what you’ve been working towards, but I would really like (and would pay for) two separate apps, one for SMS and one for all other google voice stuff. Just like there is a native phone app and a native SMS app. And move the settings page into the overall settings app instead of taking up the space on the bottom row.

    While I’m at it…character counter, vibrate disable option, sound enable option, no blank spaces in history log, search SMS messages, load more than 2 days ago, favorites syncs, push, some sort of confirmation that the text is sent i.e. what is done in native sms app, all the normal requests…

  26. May 20th, 2010 at 20:34

    @Timothy We can all dream right? :) Perhaps I’m already working on a separate SMS app…

    i just purchased your app via cydia.

    I have to say, sinfuliphonerepo.com has your app pirated (as i am sure you’re aware of), and I had used it about a week on a previous version. I liked the GV Mobile + version so much more i finally broke and bought my first iPhone app after being on a 3g iPhone a year. You’re kicking ass by keeping this up, even though app store keeps refusing you. I’ve read through the site some, and you’re really doing your work, so it really is worth it.

    Also, the GV Mobile app currently for free in cydia doesn’t work, even once login credentials are entered (at least for me a 3g user on 3.1.3). Thanks for your work, I’m hard to please, but I’ve been really impressed. Hope to see some push and sms-like features added, possibly some kind of integration between the sms default app? maybe that’s a lot more difficult and i’m just shooting things out, but if it could even read the sms app’s directory and keep it all in one app that’d be amazing.

    Interestingly enough, I had the problems everyone here had for a day, so I just used my “regular” minutes. Yesterday I tried using google voice again, and everything was back to normal. Thanks again for lookin out for us. If my shit breaks again, I’ll download the update. I find cydia a real pain in the ass to navigate, its buggy as hell

    @sean Haha yeah, and I forgot to say that I do appreciate the app so far and keep up the good work!

  30. May 21st, 2010 at 11:58

    @Ethan Too bad that version won’t work. :) I see everything now. Thanks for your support though.

    May 21st, 2010 at 18:38

    The only version I can see on cydia is 2.1.0, installing that gives a size mismatch error. Does anyone else have this issue. Assuming I don’t need to add/edit the source to get this application.

    Regards,
    Mandeep

  34. May 21st, 2010 at 18:52

    @mbhullar Need to reload Cydia (don’t ask how, cause I don’t know). I had that problem and somehow I got Cydia to reload the packages from ModMyi. Then the correct version showed up…

    My apologies, this was a user error and is resolved. Successfully able to install the app. There was a rogue repository that was preventing the packages to be updated.

    Great application just little thing that i think you could fix are: the icons on free version history make more sense like the incoming, outgoing, and missed calls should be on the paid version. second thing pull up contact list while typing. Thank you! Awesome application.

    Please add a character counter, thanks!

  39. May 22nd, 2010 at 16:56

    @paul this will only happen when your on a slow connection and not enough time is given for the delete command…could possibily happen on a fast connection as well…

  40. May 23rd, 2010 at 15:49

    For those of you who want Push, gmail now supports Push via exchange. And, when you get an sms email notification, you can simply reply to the email, and Google Voice will send it out as an sms message to the corresponding phone.

    @sean

    make a GV Mobile app that only has sms. No phone or voicemail. Apple should approve it, because they approved “Textfree’s” update which gives the users, an ACTUAL NUMBER! crazy huhhh

    Hey @sean Ive been getting this weird crashing behavior with the latest GV+ update. The app will start to load and then freeze the entire phone and I’ll have to do a reset (sleep and home button hold) to bring the phone back. Is anyone else having this problem? It’s been happening a lot over the past couple days. Thanks for your help.

    Sean, I am having some issues with GV plus, the update. I bought the app, now I’m trying to do the update and it’s not going through. I’m getting an genuine error after app starts up and for some reasons, I cannot re-download the app via cydia. It’s showing purchase instead of install. I really need to have it working, I’m getting pissed off and I’m thinking of calling it quits. Hope that there’s a solution soon. Thanks

    I have a problem with playing voice mail audio on GV Mobile. I also have Verizon. I have a GV number that I can call from iCall (so am not even using Verizon). I receive the message perfectly on my PC based GV account, and see the transcript as well as audio there. I have the voicemail emailed to a textfree account on my jailbroken ipodtouch where I receive a nice alert and can see the text when it comes in. So I am sending my GV voice mail notification to my textfree account. When I look at GV Mobile I see the messages and can read the text, but when I highlight a message the stop symbol comes up and no amount of pushing on it turns it into a play arrow, so I can’t hear the audio from the voice mail. Originally I could hear the audio sometimes, but it never seemed 100%. I tried changing GV voicemail alert back to my main email but still can’t hear the voice mail on GV Mobile (can’t get the red stop sign to turn into green arrow).

    Sean, just downloaded GV+ after jailbreaking my iphone 3g and you app is excellent. It might stop me switching over to Android…still on the fence. Btw, any idea on when the SMS app will auto-refresh while in a conversation – or have a refresh button?
