This update fixes the problem with dialing and sending SMS to multiple recipients. Enjoy.
This update fixes the problem with dialing and sending SMS to multiple recipients. Enjoy.
since last night all sms push via the gvmobileservices email are failing and being returned as undeliverable.
Switch to your new email address provided. Old one is shut down.
were do we change the email address?
My notifications are not working either. I noticed another post that said addresses have switched from long domain to @gvmpl.us But I’m not sure of what steps to do the switch. Where there instructions posted a while ago? where? thanks!
Since the 2.5.2 update I can no longer use any stored contacts or favorites to dial. If I manually enter the number it works or if I use a URL scheme to get I to the app it works. I thought it might be a issue with the newish “auto dial feature” .I I have “auto dial” turned off but it’s still trying to auto dial numbers and toggling it doesn’t work. When i Try to turn auto dial on, next time I go into settings it’s off.
I first tried cleaning the app data and then I totally deleted the app and reinstalled it. Both solutions didn’t work.
I’m using a GSM iPhone 4, on latest OS version 5.1.1.
Thanks
Reboot your phone.
Since the new update v2.5.2 every time i attempt to make a phone call or send a text I’ve gotten this ERROR “ An error occurred while trying to establish a connection with Google Voice” every time i attempt to make a phone call or send a text . Pretty much all day today I was not able to make any phone calls only when i dial from computer my phone rings (i set it up that way to ring 1st my phone) .Tried to delete the app and reinstall it but did not solve the issue. So the GV + useless at the moment
Yup – got this going on too.
I should add the stock app works ok
Read the main thread – sounds like an update will be pushed soon.
I did try rebooting my phone. Even with the update you published. I can NOT dial a stored favorite, or contact from my contact list. I am using direct dial.
Let me know what you need from me.
Thanks
1. Uninstall App > Reboot Phone
2. Download GV+ v2.5.3 from App Store
3. Reboot Phone > Configured App
4. Call Methods for Test: Direct Dial and Call Back
Same issue of NO dial out from phone.
Just updated to the New App:
God Damm Good Job Man.
this app is working tighter than a Frogs Ass.
Haaa Haaaaaa
Good work i know the other issues but keep up with them all.
Thank You Again.
Is the app down ? I can’t send or receive SMS via app ??
As of a few hours ago I haven’t been able to send or receive SMS via the app either
Since the new update v2.5.2 I’ve gotten this “Invalid response from Google (General)” every time i attempt to send a SMS. How do i fix it or Can I fix it?
Same here with: “Invalid response from Google (General)” every time i attempt to send a SMS.
Dido, the only workaround I’ve found is to use the actual google app until this gets sorted out.
I’m not seeing any issues sending SMS. Try rebooting your phones.
Ever since the latest update 2.5.2, I am unable to send SMS
or place outgoing calls. “Invalid response from Google (General)”
pops up after attempting a text message – I am receiving SMS per usual,
but cannot respond to them….kinda defeats the purpose of the app.
Everything was working fine before this update…hope it gets fixed soon.
Rebooted phone and also reinstalled app, but still get the “Connection Error: Invalid response from Google (General)”. I tried the Google Voice App as well to see if it might be google’s problem, but that app works fine.
I’m looking into it guys.
Same error. It’s not the update as it worked perfectly until yesterday. Rebooted, reinstalled, multiple devices same issue. Must be something with googles API, right Sean?
Oh? Well to be honest the whole problem is the lack of an API. We (devs) have to do some hacky crap to make it work. If Google would have provided an API (like I’ve been asking for), wouldn’t have so many issues.
don’t seem to be getting push notifications for the last day. is it me or are there system problems?
Use the new email address it provides you.
I did update to the new email when the new version was released a couple weeks ago and push notifications worked fine after that. They stopped about a day ago for me.
sorry, my bad. I forgot to update my settings in Google Voice.
The latest app GV Mobile + 2.5.2 worked a few times. Since then, over the course of a few days, it alwayshangs when “initiating call.” I have my pref set to callback. As of now, the app is completely non-functional for me on my 4s.
Can you help please? I really liked the app, for the few times it worked.
Use Direct dial? Trying to identify an issue with Google Voice at this point.
Sean,
Thanks for looking into this “Invalid Response
from Google (General)” issue – I know it’s
complicated stuff, and I for one appreciate
your app and all the hard work you do to
keep it running smoothly…
Keep up the good work!
Appreciate it.
What part of the world/country are you guys having this problem in? Seems localized…
I’m in the washington dc area and I’m getting the “Invalid Response
from Google (General)” error. Is that what you’re looking for?
Thanks for the service.
Im in Utah and having the problem. And yes, I use direct dial.
I’m in Washington, DC and have not been able to complete a call using GV Mobile+ for several weeks. I keep hoping that the next update will fix it, but no dice.
I’ve completely removed and reinstalled, as well as rebooted. Still, I can’t place calls.
If I try direct dial, it hangs it hangs on “Dialing” or reports that “An error occurred while trying to establish a connection with Google Voice.” If I use callback, same thing, but “Initiating call” instead of “Dialing.”
Anytime this happens, I can always switch over to the Goole provided app and connect the call without issue right away.
I am having the error establish connection issue and I am in Dallas Texas with an Austin Texas number
I had used GV Mobile + a long time ago, but switched to Google’s app. I’m now getting an email every single time a notification would have been sent saying “delivery status notification (failure)”
I installed GV Mobile+ (which by the way looks and is acting great, i can’t remember why i had switched back when I needed to switch months ago), and I don’t see anywhere to change that email address. Please help, these emails are annoying!
I’m getting the “Invalid Response from Google” message
in the Northeast (Rhode Island), if that helps.
I am also getting “Invalid response from Google (General)” every time I try to send an SMS or initiate a call. However I can login and receive SMS from my GV account. I deleted the app and just re-installed the app from the Apple App Store this morning and I still get the error on both Wifi and Cell Data network. I am in Portland, Oregon using an iPhone 4. Thanks.
Same invalid response error while trying to send texts here in Ohio too on an iPhone 4 running 5.0.1 on ATT. I’ve tried rebooting the phone and logging out/in of Google repeatedly from within the app. I love the app, hope you can find a fix soon! Thanks.
I identified a fix and submitted an update to Apple. Appreciate the feedback and help guys.
Thanks for all of your hard work on this app — it’s the single most used app on my phone, at least when it’s working. When it isn’t, using the alternative is proof that GVM+ is the best user experience and feature set for GV on the iPhone.
I’m wondering when Google will stop making changes that break GVM+ and just license it from you for a ton of cash and distribute it as their official app!
Great! Thanks!
Sean,
I don’t see instructions to move to the new email address–and setting up in Google voice or in Gmail requires a verification email, which I’m not able to accept.
Do you have a link to move to the new email address?
@christian. @MarkN. In GV Mobile + under settings and then push notifications at the very bottom you will see setup instructions that will walk you through what to do. And right before setup instructions under push notifications you should see the new forwarding address email. The setup instructions have pictures included so just be sure you are in a wifi area to be sure that you get the pictures.
I don’t know if I’m a rare exception or if the persons having problems are, but so far, the app is continuing to work for me. Nonetheless, I’m happy you are so diligent about attending to issues that your users bring to your attention. Thanks for all your work on this app!
Sean, I’m not getting push notification since yesterday. I think I need a new email address to use from you. the old one, @gvmobileservices.appspotmail.com, fails.thanks for all your gard work and support
I believe it is now @gvmpl.us
The email address has changed as of June 01. Go to settings in the app and you’ll see instructions for “Push Notifications” and you’ll see the new email address there.
Okay, today, the app is acting wonky. I just sent myself a test text, and I did not get the push notification, which I HAVE been getting successfully up to as recently as yesterday.
Okay, I rebooted my iPhone and the push notifications work again.
Well…the push notifications have stopped working again, and this time, rebooting the iPhone did not remedy the problem.
Any time frame on fix? Thanks
Getting the same invalid response from google error message. looking forward to an update soon.
The push notifications are working again for me.
Push notifications not working. Just saw that I need to update the forwarding email address in GV settings. Added the new forwarding email in settings, but so far I haven’t received the verification email sent to my Primary email in Gmail. Anyone have any idea how long it takes to receive it? It’s been about 5 hours now since I first added the new alternate email. Already clicked the “resend verification email” link, nothing. Any issue with the notification servers?
I cannot use direct dial as I get “Connection Error – Timeout or other while trying to reach Google. Other: A server with the specified hostname could not be found.”
I did however make a successful call in offline mode (that takes forever)
Unable to text as well “Connection Error : Invalid response from Google (General).
I am in Dallas/Fort Worth
The update should be reviewed today or tomorrow (6 days today).
Thanks so much Sean! Works again !
I had to replace my iPhone. The email address provided for the new phone is still the same. I’ve also installed GV M+ on my iPad and the app gives me the same email address. (So the email address isn’t device specific?)
Unfortunately, I’m not getting any push notifications. I’m using the @gvmpl.us address.
It used to work on my previous iPhone.
Appears to be working great. Thanks for fixing the update.
Thank you for your hard work on this software. It is an important part of my phone service. Recently I reset my application specific password for GV Mobile + in my google account settings. I have not been able to reestablish my account log-in within the GV mobile app. When I submit my user name and password I I received the following when trying to log in.
“Connection error: An error occurred while trying to reach Google (level1) Error: the certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “www.google.com” putting your confidential etc.etc. at risk.”
I’m wondering what’s going wrong. Perhaps I need to wait longer? I have updated my associated email and made sure that it’s connected for push notifications months ago, and have had no issues with your great software until today’s attempt to change my account password.
Did you fix the pic messaging and errors yet or what ?
I have read through a bunch of forum topic and haven’t found this one. If there is somewhere else I should post it, let me know.
For the most part, the app works as expected with one exception for me. Each time I try to add a new phone number to an existing number the app crashes. Once a number is identified, I press the number, press “add to contact”, search for the contact, then select the contact and the app crashes. The number hasn’t been attached to the contact and I have to add it manually.
This does not seem to happen when adding a brand new contact.
Thanks for everything you do.
