    @unapologetic LOL – the random number is the number assigned to that contact by Google…they said who is this because you sent a SMS from your GV #…they obviously don’t know your GV #. Have you tried sending SMS from GV web site before? Please read up on the 406 number on the Google Voice’s Help site. Its actually pretty cool stuff…

    Bug when deleting voice mail (using iPod Touch) for paid GV Dialer app:

    When a voicemail is deleted while playing or paused, the next listed voicemail still plays the deleted item–the list gets confused.

    I look forward to a correction since this is a typical use case: listen to a voice mail and delete it on the fly, then listen to the next voice mail.

    Current workaround is to jump away from the voice mail menu and go back.

    Love the GV app. Not sure how you’re tracking feature requests but it would be very cool if we could do multiple recipient sms. In other words, mass text messages.

  7. April 26th, 2009 at 20:50
    Reply | Quote | #7

    @Sunny I guess I could do this…since Google doesn’t natively offer this, I would have to loop through every number you add – so if you have 10 numbers you’re sending to, it might take 30 secs on Wifi.

    i have been trying to sign in, to no avail, so i looked in the support section, and one of the requirements to sign in is you have to be in the US (i am in france currently)? why is this a limitation? i have an account, and i can sign in on the website just fine, why should the app be any different?
    Thanks so much!

    I keep getting an error message that google voice refused to make the call, may be due to invalid number…. The number I dialed is correct, the number in setting I inputted under “phone number to call from” is my cell phone number. i tried my google voice number there and that did not work either. Thoughts?

    forget it – just started working for some reason.

    hey sean, I was wondering if you were considering bringing this app (or any other app for that matter – but especially this one) to the blackberry storm. Would be extremely helpful :)

  13. April 27th, 2009 at 16:09

    im on 3.0 im having glitches with text messages, doesnt load names and sometimes if it does it wont select and it wont cancel either. i dont know if this has to do with 3.0 or not.

  14. April 27th, 2009 at 21:08

    @Jessica Jessica, while things appear to be the same, there are slight differences which prevent signing in. In theory it’s an easy fix, but I have to create being out of the U.S. first in order to code accordingly.

    Hi,

    I am not able to login. I suspect it’s because of the length of my password which is longer than 10 characters.

    Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Y.

    @YR Please goto the Support page and try the tips there.

    Sean,

    Quick question sending a SMS with the app is free. When it comes back to the phone I assume that you get charged for a text from ATT correct? Since the sms is going to the sms part of the phone? I am hoping I am wrong.

    Also a future request when doing the SMS anyway it can integrate into the contacts list for the phone.

  18. April 28th, 2009 at 21:23

    @George Correct. This will always be the case if your iPhone # is listed as a forwarded number and enabled (and sms set to on). A future update will include a quasi history of SMS.

    April 28th, 2009 at 21:54

    I tried downloading the app. Not working. Researched and found out that you cannot use Google voice unless you were a previous Grand Central user. Is this true????

  20. SM
    April 28th, 2009 at 22:09

    Does this only work if you’re in the US? I have a US Google Voice # but am frequently out of the US. Granddialer worked but for some reason, this app says my credentials are wrong. Thanks.

  21. George
    April 28th, 2009 at 22:41

    @SM
    Yes you have to be in the US, check Seans support section.

  22. George
    April 28th, 2009 at 22:42

    Thanks Sean!
    @sean

  23. April 28th, 2009 at 22:51

    @SM I just finished adding international support.

  24. April 28th, 2009 at 22:52

    @George O. Correct. As stated in the lengthy description, this is only for current Google Voice users. Google does plan to open the service soon (month or so).

  25. Nitin
    April 29th, 2009 at 01:00

    When I try to dial a number I get an error message saying “Error Google Voice refused to make the call….”. This app doesn’t work at all.

  26. George O.
    April 29th, 2009 at 06:38

    @sean
    Thanks

  27. April 29th, 2009 at 08:07

    @Nitin Please enter your iPhone number into the section, “Phone to call from”. This app has a high learning curve to some. ;)

    April 29th, 2009 at 10:48

    Great work Sean. Couple of comments.
    1.SMS history (in the future), as you mentioned, will be very helpful in the future.
    2.Also when creating a new SMS, tapping in the “To:” field brings up a keypad. It should really open up a keyboard so i can type in my contacts name, not their number.
    3.Also could you make the Splash screen and the “signing in” overlap so that I am not waiting for two separate events before I can start using the app.
    4.Also how about a Favorites tab so i am only one tap away from seeing my most frequent contacts.
    5. Again since the numerical keypad is used much less than the keyboard, how about changing the “Keypad” tab to a “Contacts” tab, putting keypad button somewhere on that screen.

    April 29th, 2009 at 12:42

    When checking voicemail on iPhone 3G, the sound through the earpiece is garbled and the sound through the speakerphone sounds fine. This is over WiFi.

  30. April 29th, 2009 at 13:15

    @Allyn P. How about on 3G or Edge? Haven’t heard of this issue yet…

  31. brego
    April 29th, 2009 at 13:18

    I get the Error – Google Voice refused make the call. This may be due to an invalid phone number you want to make the call from and/or you’re trying to call a incorrect number. Please verify the number and try again.

    In my settings, I have verified that the Phone number to call from is my correct iphone phone number.

  32. brego
    April 29th, 2009 at 13:24

    @brego

    Logging off, back on fixed it.

    Nothing to see here, move along.

  33. April 29th, 2009 at 14:17

    @brego Good deal.

  34. April 29th, 2009 at 21:00

    Sean – Great App (I am user type 1, BTW). It wasn’t intuitive (to me) to add my cell under *The number to call from*. I used another number to spoof caller ID since I forward calls to my Google Voice number. Also, is there a way to delete numbers to call from? I am in the Free (for now)

  35. April 29th, 2009 at 21:13

    @Rich Rosen Thanks! Swipe to delete…

    I tried out the free app for 10 minutes, and bought the full version. Thanks for a nice app.

    Hey Sean,

    Love GV Mobile! Been a GrandCentral user for years now. Don’t know what I’d do without the service and I can add your app to that list as well.

    Before I ask my question, I realize I may be poking at your secret sauce, so I will take no offense if your response id “None of your beeswax!”

    I’ve looked around for an API for GV and haven’t been able to find one. I want to make a desktop dialer/plugin for Daylite so I can dial from it. Can you help point me in the right direction?

    Thanks,
    Joe

    Loaded GV Mobile (pay for version)
    a) Suggest you let SMS choose from address book for phone numbers
    b) Suggest larger SMS type face for my old eyes.
    Thanks for your great work…

    I have purchased your application, and unfortunately did not read the instructions carefully. I am outside of the US, and unable to sign in. Is there a chance to get an update for international(preferred) usage or refund?

    Thanks.
