On a more serious note, my subscription to the Apple iPhone Developer Program ends in a little over a week. What should I do? I mean, they did pull my app back in July and it’s been sitting in Approval Review for…5 months. No emails returned or anything. Apple has great customer service…say what?!
Did you know…
Line2 from toktumi functions and looks identical to GV Mobile v1? Guess what – it’s still on the App Store.
Also, OneBox, which looks a bit different, functions the same as well. Yes, it’s on there as well.
Of course you knew that! Everyone knows Apple’s lack of parity when it comes to apps in the App Store.

I appreciate all the attention GV Mobile 2 beta is getting. Unfortunately I’m limited in the amount of devices/testers I can have, so not everyone that emailed in will get a response or be in the beta. I may add more testers as the beta evolves. Stay tuned!

…at least I’ll finally get to see if Santa really exists.
Happy Holi…no, Merry Christmas.

Hey gang…my apologies for being out of touch for so long. I was stuck in the Amazon rain forest for a month…had a run in with a buffalo.
As far as GV Mobile v1.2 from the App Store no longer working – I’ve addressed this many times it seems, yet I still get emails. Google emailed me many moons ago notifying me of upcoming changes to the account login for Google Voice. I was in the process of updating GV Mobile to account for Google’s changes when Apple turned their back on US, removing GV Mobile from the App Store, preventing me to publish a fix for the login issue everyone is experiencing now. There is good news! If you jailbreak your phone, I do have GV Mobile on Cydia that works. There is no other way for me to provide an update – sorry. I have re-submitted GV Mobile to the App Store, but seeing as its been over 2 months waiting for approval, I don’t see that going anywhere soon. Send Phil Schiller (schiller@apple.com) a nice email and he might get it approved.
As for the next version, I’m still working on it, but with the lack of revenue, I’m having a tough time finding time to work on it. As you all may know, this is my night time hobby, which comes 2nd to pleasing my wife.
If you want to see movement on GV Mobile on the App Store, I urge you to email Phil @ Apple.

Next week I’m on vacation (staycation) – maybe I’ll finish up version 2.0?

My good buddies over at toktumi have this wonderful app called Line2 just waiting to get approved by Apple. If Google Voice is too childish for you and you need more business centric features, this is the service for you. Better yet, you can get the service NOW – no invites. They have an app available for the Blackberry now, one for Android coming soon, and one for the iPhone, pending Apple approves it. Jason over at TechCrunch wrote up a nice article of the ongoing saga – check it out Another Startup Falls Prey To The iPhone/Google Voice Crossfire.
Maybe I had a small hand in getting this app up and running…

Looks like FCC is getting in the middle of this, demanding answers from Apple, AT&T, and Google regarding the recent situation. According to the letter to Apple, they, like us all, want to know what process is in place for an app to get approved or rejected. Maybe with the FCC’s involvement, Apple will be forced to add the removed apps back to the App Store. If this is the case, I’m going to want lost revenue as well…what the hell, pain and suffering also. Maybe I should have an attorney on hot standby… takers?
Thank you to all 50 or so that sent this in…good looking out!

If you truly want to take money out of Apple’s pockets, do what Dave did!
Here’s what I did.. This hurts **APPLE** and not Sean! I called up apple corporate offices and told them that I want my money back as “compensation” — NOT as a refund. I was very specific that I did not want a refund on the app; that I wanted APPLE to cover my cost. They ended up crediting my account for 5-free song downloads, (Yes, it was pathetic, but, it’s something.. and it’s something that won’t hurt Sean, but DOES cost Apple money).
I spoke to Robert Barger @ Apple Corporate care. You can reach him at 512-674-2500 x 40267. Give him a call and let him know how you feel about what happened…
