Just goes to show you…

March 31st, 2009

…how flakey Apple’s approval process is. The premium version got rejected! Ahh. The reason given…well, read for yourself: “we cannot post this version of your iPhone application to the App Store because of the standard iPhone icon for “recents” may be confusing or misleading to iPhone users. Your “recents” icon only applies to recent calls made from your application, not to all recent calls made by the user. Please redesign your icon to be significantly different from the standard iPhone recents icon.”

Oh, and the flakey part (GrandDialer):

    Call it “History” like the Skype application? Actually I was going to suggest this last night before reading this post, it just seems like a more natural word, however then I looked at the iphone call application and saw they used “Recent.” Apple must like their own words. LOL.

    @mischievous
    It’s the image their after, not the wording.

    Maybe a future update can use some of the new APIs to pull recent phone calls from the Phone app? That could be helpful.

    Since they rejected/responded on the 31st, which would have been the day they actually accepted the app. and I picked the 31st as a go date, does this mean I technically win. :) PS. The political bureaucracy is a bitch!

    Yet Skype uses the same image? Or is it different from Apples?

    Will resubmitting take another 5 days from date of submitting? *There’s always the other source to put it out there. Haha… hopefully after you fix this bogus problem they’re not going to come back with something else. Good Luck.

    I’d play it safe and use what Grand Dialer used, unless they used the same thing and Apple is simply yanking your chain. One would think they’d have some consistency in their decision making process.

    @REL
    Nevermind…I didn’t see the Grand Dialer note in your post Sean. They’re yanking your chain. Put it up on Cydia. LOL.

    I would imagine the reason why Keypad and Contacts are ok is because it is the same keypad and contacts (for all practical purposes). Recent actually IS different. You might not like their standards, but they do have a point … and it would be great if the recent would include all phone calls, not just recent ones with GV mobile.

    Do you still have the extra Google Voice account? And I would love to get in on GV Mobile if possible.

    @Anonymous
    Apple does not provide access to the Recents.

    @REL
    Consistency is not a word used around the approval department.

    Ya know…this is another perfect example of Apple giving people what THEY want….not what WE want!! Well I guess the best you can do is change it, resubmit it, and hope for the best…you need to hurry though, I have already delated an app for the space on my front screen and it needs to be filled!!

    @Jerry Chacon
    I’m a bit confused here…Is Sean looking for an extra GV account or are you? Sean…I might have a 212 number GC account ready to be moved to GV for a free advance copy of the GV Premium. Other than that trade I’m likely holding on to my 212 line.

    Sean, just make sure you follow this simple workflow:

    I since removed that comment from the post – Scott helped me out. That man rocks.

    @Jan
    At the earliest, Friday.
